Our Team

Jared Garrison, Executive Director

Jared Garrison is a native of Marion and a graduate of Oklahoma City University, where he graduated Cum Laude with a degree in Musical Theater.  Jared has worked professionally both on and off stage and most recently, lived in New York City.  Jared worked for many years in the event industry and was one of New York’s premier event planners at a very high end company, planning numerous events for New York Socialites and Celebrities. Life brought Jared back to Marion where he has settled in as Executive Director of The Pavilion.  As Executive Director, he is responsible for all aspects of the operation of The Pavilion.  Jared serves on the Board of Directors for the Williamson County Tourism Bureau and is on the Executive Board of Directors for kre8ive Fine Arts Academy, which keeps him very active in Southern Illinois’ Theater Community.  In his free time, Jared enjoys gardening, reading, spending time with friends, hammock camping, spending time with his dog, Mr. Parker and running.  Jared recently ran his first half marathon – – The Star Wars – The Dark Side Half Marathon at Disney World and is currently training for a 2nd half marathon later this year. More exciting information about his 2nd half marathon will be coming soon.

Carla Simmons, Administrative Assistant

Carla Simmons is the Administrative Assistant for the Executive Director of The Pavilion. Carla is responsible for the clerical duties relating to The Pavilion and its events.  Carla is a Marion native who came back to the area after 40 years in northern Illinois. Carla has work experience in banking, mortgage loans, real estate closings and legal office administration. Carla is married to Attorney Robert (Rob) Bateson, is mother to three children, grandmother to seven, great grandmother to two and adoptive mother to Chuck – she and Rob’s rambunctious Rottweiler mix. She is an active member of Zion United Church of Christ where she sings in the Chancel Choir, plays in the Bell Choir, is a member of the Missions Committee, recently helped bring a vision to reality in the Church’s new Community Garden and volunteers regularly at the Marion Ministerial Alliance. In her spare time, Carla looks forward to visiting with her children and grandchildren, walking the beautiful area trails, road trips with Rob, cooking, reading, gardening, sewing and experiencing art in all its forms.

David Wade, Maintenance Manager

David Wade is a native of Herrin and is a graduate of Herrin High School. David joined The Pavilion staff in October 2013 and brings many years experience and excellent customer service to Southern Illinois’ premier event center.  As one of two maintenance staff at The Pavilion, David works to keep our facility safe, secure, warm and inviting and is responsible for over-seeing and properly executing every event setup.  Prior to joining our staff, David was employed for 26 years at Maytag.  David has one daughter, Jessica and son-in-law, Brock.  In his spare time, David looks forward to spending time with his grandchildren, Cohen, Grier and Adalynn and also enjoys hunting and fishing.

Charles Jarvis, Maintenance

Charles Jarvis is a native of Herrin, IL and is the most recent addition to our staff.  Charles has 20 plus years working in the maintenance field and is excited to be working at The Pavilion where he can practice his trade all-the-while making a difference in other people’s lives.  As one of two maintenance staff at The Pavilion, Charles works to keep our facility safe, secure, warm and inviting and is responsible for properly executing every event setup.  In his spare time, he enjoys spending time outdoors.  He is an avid fisherman (when the fish are biting) and loves to golf.  To relax, Charles loves to oil paint snow-scapes and spend time with his wife, Peggy.
